While Digsby is an excellent cross-platform im client, it is not open source so it wouldn’t make this list.

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of Launchy – definitely qualifies as “awesome”. It’s the best tool I’ve come across in a long time. (Okay, so it’ll only save me a few seconds here and there each day, but these things add up!)
