I love Ubuntu! I can do all sorts of stuff and it ain’t even hard. I definately have the capacity to fiddle with stuff, but that doesn’t mean that I want to manually configure file sharing, or deal with printing. Ubuntu Linux makes it so easy!
Things that I Immediately Noticed
- Gorgeous.
- My Wireless Card was immediately configured. I was on my house’s network without a hassle.
- My sound card played sound on bootup. Shocking, considering I hadn’t configured a thing.
- My webcam worked out of the box.
- My iPod was recognized and Ubuntu tried to help me sync it.
- The application installer is incredibly efficient and easy.
- The non-destructive partition utility formatted some of my free space and made it Linux friendly. The install took about 6 minutes!
- File sharing just works
- It resembles a Mac in how easy it all is, except… better. GASP!!!!
I want to trash Windows, and if I didn’t love Adobe Photoshop so much, I would trash it. Oh. And I have about a billion files to get moved over to Linux – 1 gigabyte at a time. I’ll post the status later.
Things I need to do with Ubuntu Linux:
- Get the codec so that I can play my iTunes music.
(( - Get more video codecs
- Make it so that I can watch DVDs
- and Figure out how to run The Gimp
