My Senator’s Views on Net Neutrality

I emailed my senator about net neutrality.  Today, which is about 4 weeks later, I received my reply which is right here;

Good morning Brad . . .

to my remarks regarding “network

I emailed my senator about net neutrality.  Today, which is about 4 weeks later, I received my reply which is right here;

Good morning Brad . . .

And thank you for taking the time to respond
to my remarks regarding "network
neutrality". It is always good to hear from
you.

As I mentioned before, the issue of network
neutrality is very complex and it should be
carefully monitored by the Congress and the
Federal Communications Commission (FCC). I
believe it is critical for network operators
to remain responsive to the needs of
consumers and businesses that rely on the
Internet every day. To date, the Internet
has expanded rapidly without excessive
federal regulation and I believe that the
public has been well-served by this
approach. I feel that network providers
should be given the opportunity to continue
operating in such an environment.

As we move forward, should network operators
fail to meet the internet needs of
businesses or consumers, it will be
imperative for the Congress to work with the
FCC to construct a reasonable regulatory
framework that keeps the Internet growing
and flourishing. Rest assured, I will
continue to carefully monitor this situation
and I will not hesitate to take the
appropriate action should any improprieties
arise.

Thank you again for taking the time to
respond to my comments

Best Regards,

Craig Thomas
United States Senator

Hm.  That seems pretty neutral.  I don’t know from that whether he is for, or against net neutrality.

Wii versus PS3

This is a hilarious spoof of the Apple commercials. It is the PS3 and the Nintendo Wii going at it. Yes, it’s true, the PS3 cannot vibrate anymore, it will be very expensive, and it is using a proprietary format called BluRay. BluRay is neat, but it is difficult to use and [...]

Yes, it’s true, the PS3 cannot vibrate anymore, it will be very expensive, and it is using a proprietary format called BluRay. BluRay is neat, but it is difficult to use and the players are expensive. Wii’s upsides, on the other hand, are that it is cheap, it’s more fun and it’s very touch oriented.

Dell Notebook Battery Recall

I’ve been following tech news and have known that certain batteries in certain Dell Laptops have been literally exploding. They’ve decided to recall the batteries. I go to Dell’s website click the Dell Battery Return. It turns out that my Inspiron 6000, and my Dad’s Inspiron 9300 laptop’s batteries qualify for a [...]

I go to Dell’s website click the Dell Battery Return. It turns out that my Inspiron 6000, and my Dad’s Inspiron 9300 laptop’s batteries qualify for a replacement. In fact, they’re using my/my Dad’s particular battery as an example.
Thanks Dell! But I’m sorry, the battery has not been holding it’s charge. The Dell QuickSet program pops up everytime I boot, or wake up, saying

Dell Battery Warning

I immediately was bummed, because computer batteries are not cheap. My battery is in the neighborhood of $120 to replace. This recall couldn’t have been better executed. I love it.

Kiss ssiK

The principal had decided that this would be the end. She called the girls into the bathroom to see how difficult lipstick was to clean. So the janitor started his demonstration by wetting the mop in the toilet bowl and proceeded to swab the mirrors. And the girls quit kissing the mirror.

I love Ubuntu! I can do all sorts of stuff and it ain’t even hard. I definately have the capacity to fiddle with stuff, but that doesn’t mean that I want to manually configure file sharing, or deal with printing. Ubuntu Linux makes it so easy!

Things that I Immediately Noticed

  • Gorgeous.
  • My Wireless Card was immediately configured. I was on my house’s network without a hassle.
  • My sound card played sound on bootup. Shocking, considering I hadn’t configured a thing.
  • My webcam worked out of the box.
  • My iPod was recognized and Ubuntu tried to help me sync it.
  • The application installer is incredibly efficient and easy.
  • The non-destructive partition utility formatted some of my free space and made it Linux friendly. The install took about 6 minutes!
  • File sharing just works
  • It resembles a Mac in how easy it all is, except… better. GASP!!!!

I want to trash Windows, and if I didn’t love Adobe Photoshop so much, I would trash it. Oh. And I have about a billion files to get moved over to Linux – 1 gigabyte at a time. I’ll post the status later.

Things I need to do with Ubuntu Linux:

  • Get the codec so that I can play my iTunes music. :-( ((
  • Get more video codecs
  • Make it so that I can watch DVDs
  • and Figure out how to run The Gimp

I’ll be updating you on the Linux conversion soon.

3 times the fun

I’m a multi-tasker when it comes to computing. That’s why I ordered an additional gigabyte of ram to add to the half gig I already have. Now, I am considering bumping my taskbar up to around 3 rows. It’s already at two rows.
I believe that this also prompts a cleanup. My [...]

I believe that this also prompts a cleanup. My desktop, which is a total mess, is going to be getting cleaned up, too.

Does anybody want to buy my computer? I want a MacBook Pro.
